Currently, Vincent is a doctoral candidate at the same U of T, started his own firm which is doing exceptionally well with a cross-platform photo album application, and has still enough time to blog and tweak his encryption code. It thus seems natural that his new version is improved and better than the previous one.
To encrypt all or part of your article, you have to follow the following steps:
You need to either embed a simple call such as
or embed the following:
Head over to..
..the jsencryption page on his site and encrypt the text you want with a key you can remember. The features of the encryption refer solely to the code that you’ll be using in your article:
- Standard hides the code in the title, so that an unsuccessful password won’t spill over the code in the article, as it did in the previous version.
- *** show the code differently, but I don’t see myself ever using that.
You can see what it will look like in the HTML Test box as well as in his examples page. Just copy the result and paste it in your article.
Again, for backup purposes, the page code is calls both the jsencrypt script as well as a jsencryptform script:
Apart from the usual
As if this is not enough, he is providing even bookmarklets which you can drag to your bookmark toolbar to make encryption (and decryption) easier:
These bookmarklets provide a quick shortcut to the encryption/decryption page and automatically fills in the plain or encrypted text fields with the selected text on the page that you are currently on.
I plan to ask Vincent for permission to keep this backup as such. I don’t believe either this or the previous article is illegal, but rather as a courtesy, if he feels that his code should only be in his page, I might have to encrypt this here . Even though I’d rather not.
Vincent’s ShapeCollage application works in Java, which is not something I like. Luckily, there is an online version and even a Facebook app – see the links below and the video.
Vincent has a quantum computer, but doesn’t know how to use it. I might have one as well.
