When her granddaughter was born, Donne Davis found her mission: to bring together like-minded Nanas, G-mas, Babas and Mimis to share in the joys - and challenges - of grandparenting.
And that is what she accomplished:
Today, her website and social network, the GaGa Sisterhood, billed as the place where grandmas "bond, brag and benefit," is tapping into a growing demographic - America's 70 million grandparents. "When my granddaughter was born, I went completely gaga," Davis, a fourth-generation San Franciscan who now lives in Menlo Park, said with a laugh. "When I came back down to earth, I realized every grandma I met was gaga, and I also realized that being a grandma is more complicated than I'd realized." (..) Davis, who had worked as a speech pathologist, an outreach recruiter at Foothill College and a freelance writer for the Los Angeles Times, now posts two blogs a week, reviews books on grandparent-related topics, writes a newsletter and contributes a monthly newspaper column for Parenting on the Pe-ninsula.
We wish her best of luck!
